Rivers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Rivers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a Gustavo Dantas Association school in Lawrence, Kansas, founded by third-degree black belt Trevor Rivers. The program covers gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu, submission wrestling, judo with an emphasis on the BJJ ruleset, and kickboxing with Friday sparring. It welcomes beginners through a dedicated fundamentals class, runs a kids program and a women-only class, and offers a competition class for those who want to compete, though competing is optional. Two adjacent mat rooms let kids and adults train at the same time, and loaner gis are available for newcomers. Instructors are called facilitators, reflecting a self-directed approach that stresses understanding the why behind technique, not just the how. The gym also hosts fundraising seminars with its association's founder.
