The Jiu-Jitsu Academy of Southern Maryland is a martial arts school in White Plains that teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, USJA-style Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. Its approach blends traditional Japanese techniques with modern Brazilian methods, covering striking, throwing and grappling both standing and on the ground. The academy runs separate juniors and teen/adult programs, plus a Saturday Fundamentals class for newcomers. It trains competitors and reports state, regional and national champions, and it also offers combatives instruction for military and law enforcement personnel. Instructors hold senior black belt ranks in jiu-jitsu and judo, have completed background checks, and carry SafeSport and concussion-training certifications. Prospective students can arrange a tour and a free trial class.
