The Jiu-Jitsu Institute is a family-focused BJJ academy in Wilmington, NC (Monkey Junction area), founded in May 2018 by head instructor Gil Alcocer. Alcocer trained under the Mendes Brothers lineage and earned his black belt from Gui Mendes. The academy emphasizes a clean, welcoming environment with dedicated adult and kids programs in both gi and no-gi disciplines. Kids classes are split by age group with specialized instructors, and the gym prioritizes community, anti-bullying values, and structured training for all levels.
