Lion Boxing Academy

Lion Boxing Academy is a long-established amateur boxing club in Hoxton, Hackney, run as a registered charity by a volunteer committee. Based on Pitfield Street since the early 1960s, it nearly closed in early 2024 before a charitable donation helped it recruit new members, appoint a new coaching team and restructure its committee. Today it offers separate groups for young children, beginners and recreational boxers, juniors, youths and seniors, with non-contact fitness for the youngest and optional sparring for those who want it. Carded boxers compete under England Boxing, and the club has staged its own shows. No experience is needed, so people can train for fun or for competition. The gym has a boxing ring and calls itself the Home of Champions.
