What is the Matador app?
Matador is a global platform connecting combat sport enthusiasts with athletes and gyms worldwide. Designed to streamline and facilitate Seminars & 1-2-1s allowing practitioners and fans to learn directly from world champions. Connecting athletes with brands for sponsorship opportunities – while maintaining a win, win for all parties.
Who is the Matador app for?
The app is for combat sports practitioners (BJJ, MMA, Wrestling, Judo, etc.), coaches, professional athletes, gyms and promotional brands.
How does swiping work on the app?
Users swipe on athlete and event profiles providing options to attend seminars, access 1-2-1s and sponsor athletes, coaches or events.
How are seminars created and managed?
Verified athletes, Brands and gyms can create events via the “Events” tab. They choose the date, location, price, capacity, and ticket types. Once published, users are notified and can book tickets directly through the app.
How do I buy tickets for a seminar?
After an event is published, users receive a push notification. Tickets can be purchased securely through the event page using Stripe or other integrated payment options. Tickets and confirmation is sent via email. Athletes may post checkout links directly to their events, tickets can also be purchased here without having to download the app.
Can I get a refund if I can’t attend a seminar?
Refunds are only issued if the event is cancelled. However, tickets are transferable, so users can pass them on to others if needed.
Can gyms request athletes through the app?
Yes. Gym owners can browse athlete profiles and send seminar requests. Once agreed, both parties can set up and manage the seminar together, with Matador handling ticketing and contracts.
Is my data safe with Matador?
Absolutely. Matador follows strict GDPR and data protection protocols. Location and usage data help improve the experience, but chats are not stored, and all payments are handled securely through trusted providers.
Are Jiu-Jitsu seminars worth it?
Yes. Seminars give you direct access to world-class athletes, unique techniques, and detailed instruction you might not find in regular classes. They’re also a great way to meet practitioners from other gyms and broaden your understanding of the art.
