About Matador
Matador is a combat sports platform from the UK: a directory of gyms, seminars, athletes and instructionals, and an app for running a gym, events and teaching.
Why it exists
Matador started with a missed seminar. Seminars, private sessions and gym admin in combat sports still run on Instagram messages, spreadsheets and bank transfers, so good sessions are easy to miss and hard to organise.
We are building one place for that work: a public directory so people can find gyms, seminars, athletes and instructionals, and an app so the people running them can do it without the admin.

What is Matador?
A combat sports platform. On the website you can find gyms, seminars, athletes and instructionals. In the app, gym owners run their gym, organisers sell tickets to seminars and events, and athletes publish profiles, seminars and instructionals.
Is Matador free to use?
Yes. Creating a profile, setting up a gym and publishing seminars, events and instructionals is free.
Which sports does Matador cover?
Any combat sport. Gyms, events, profiles and instructionals are tagged by sport, including Brazilian jiu jitsu, MMA, wrestling, judo, boxing, muay thai and kickboxing, and every listing can be filtered by it.
Do I need the app?
Browsing is on the website. Booking, buying, posting and managing happen in the Matador app, which runs on iOS, Android and in the browser.
How do I get my gym on Matador?
Create it in the app: it gets a page in the directory and on the map, and you manage the listing, timetable, members and payments from there. If your gym is already in the directory, open its page and take it over.
How do seminars and events work?
An athlete or gym creates the event in the app with date, venue, price and ticket limit. Tickets are sold on the event page through Matador's checkout and scanned at the door from the app. Streamed events can sell stream access too.
How do I find a seminar instructor?
Browse athletes and coaches, compare their published rates and message them in the app. Coaches who are available to teach also post in Seminar opportunities, and you can post what you need there.
How do I get booked to teach seminars?
Set up your athlete profile with your rates in the app. Gyms find you in the directory, and in Seminar opportunities you can reply to gyms looking for an instructor or post your own availability.
What does verified mean?
A tick on a profile means Matador has checked that the athlete is who they say they are, like the tick on Instagram or X. Verification is free, and the directory shows verified profiles by default.
Will my gym or profile show up on Google?
Everything published in the app gets a public page on this site that search engines can crawl and anyone can share. Whether and where a page ranks is up to the search engine. You choose what is public.
Can brands, sponsors or athlete managers use Matador?
Yes, the same way everyone connects here: profiles and the community feed are open to browse and message. There are no sponsorship or management tools yet; we build what people ask for.
