Category Five Jiu-Jitsu is a community-minded Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in Hurricane, West Virginia, teaching both gi and no-gi. Founded in 2014, it follows the Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu lineage through Scott Layton and is led by a team of black belt instructors, including a certified law enforcement defensive tactics instructor. The program covers kids, teens and adults, with a dedicated beginner class and open mats for live rolling. Kickboxing classes for ages 13 and up add technique, pad and bag work. The gym stresses a welcoming, non-intimidating atmosphere and camaraderie, and kids' classes end with a game of dodgeball. Visitors from other jiu-jitsu gyms are welcome, and first-timers can try a free trial week.
