Funky Flow Fitness and Jiu Jitsu is a women-founded, family-friendly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in downtown Florence, South Carolina. It opened in early 2025 under two black belt head coaches, who are among very few women holding that rank in the state, and it traces its lineage through Tim Jones and Roman Kilgore to Carlos Machado. The academy is registered with the IBJJF and USBJJF. Training covers both gi and no-gi, with kids' classes for ages five and up, a ladies' class, a twelve-week beginners course and a competition class. Early-morning sessions suit those who train before work. The coaches stress technical precision, controlled flow and ego-free learning, and the gym also hosts private lessons, team-building sessions and self-defense seminars for groups.
