Isla Jiu Jitsu is a family-run Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in Federal Way, Washington, teaching both gi and no-gi to adults and to children from age four. The name means island in Filipino and Chamorro, reflecting the owner's Guam and Philippines roots and a culture built around family, respect and empathy. Head instructor Professor Jeff Macatangay trained locally from 2008 and has placed at Master Worlds, No-Gi Pan Ams and Worlds. The academy has an active competition team that travels to events such as Master Worlds in Las Vegas, along with private lessons, a women's class and a welcoming, tight-knit community. A second location operates in Bonney Lake.
