Spartan BJJ Glasgow is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu school in the south of the city, training at the Palace of Art on Paisley Road West. Classes are led by head coach John McGuigan and cover both gi and no-gi work. The club presents itself as welcoming to everyone, with an easygoing atmosphere where cross-training is encouraged and there is no politics between schools. New students are invited to arrange a first class through an online sign-up form, and recent social media activity shows beginners settling in and attending regularly. The gym also competes in the wider Scottish grappling community, appearing on the Smoothcomp events platform.
