SHINBOKU Karate & Self Defence
Not managed on Matador yetKarate
Shinboku is an adult karate and self-defence club that has been running in London since the mid-1980s. Training takes place in a studio room at a university sports centre in Elephant and Castle, and the club is open to the public as well as to students. Classes combine traditional and modern karate with practical self-defence, and are open to all levels, including complete beginners aged 18 and over. Students progress through regular kyu gradings, typically held quarterly, with dan gradings by invitation. The instructors hold first to third dan, and the club has links with university karate clubs and with John Johnston Sensei, 8th Dan. Members can also use a home dojo section, kata videos and members' events online.
