Shidokan GB
Not managed on Matador yetKarate
Shidokan GB is the British branch of Shidokan, a full-contact style of karate that blends karate, kickboxing and grappling, created by Kancho Yoshiji Soeno. The non-profit club is led by Shihan JJ Burnel, a 7th Dan who has headed the branch since 1991 and is also known as the bassist of The Stranglers. Its London dojo trains in a studio inside the City Sport fitness centre in Clerkenwell, handy for Barbican and Farringdon stations. Training follows a structured syllabus covering Japanese terminology, technique, kata, strength and conditioning, knockdown and Shido-Boxing sparring, and groundwork. Students of all levels are welcome, with no contract, and gradings are held twice a year.
